Fun Facts: Told riddles to passers by in roman mythology, should they answer incorrectly the sphinx would devour them alive. The character Oedipus in the play 'Oedipus Tyrannus' famously answered a riddle correctly causing the Sphinx to jump off a cliff in despair.
