Scribblenauts Levels and Tricks

Scribblenauts is broken up into 10 different worlds (with World 0 being a tutorial mode). Each of these worlds has a theme, and within each world are 11 levels. There are two types of levels: action based and puzzle based.

In each level, there is a Starite. A Starite is a star that you need to get to complete a level. In puzzles you need to meet goals to get it. In action levels, you need to get it.

The Action based levels show you where the Starite is, and simply give you the task of having Maxwell get the Starite. An example would be the tree level where you simply have to get the Starite out of the tree. The second kind, Puzzle based levels, have you attempting to trigger the Starite to appear by completing a goal.

You are often given a hint as to what you you need to do in the level in order to make the Starite appear (although these are simple one word hints like "Rescue"). By achieving certain objectives like not using weapons or using a new solution, you can gain Merits.
A merit is an award that you earn doing certain things, like writing two people!

As you can see, in each level the top screen gives you some of the basic information you need about each level. Realize that the following information is partially based on E3 Demos, and partially based on guess work, therefore information may be incorrect. At the top left is the amount of in game money you have (in Ollars). Ollars can be earned for finding unique solutions to different levels, and can be used to purchase new avatars or songs. To earn Ollars, you need to complete a level. To get more, you can complete a level with an unique solution or going below par (see below).

The top right shows the difficulty of the stage, showed as stars. At the center, Ancient represents the name of the world that Maxwell is in. Below that, the explosion symbol represents that the level is an action level (or a puzzle symbol representing a puzzle level in other levels). The 4-8 signifies that this is world 4, level 8. You'll notice further down that you are given a status of how many objects you have created, and a Par. A Par shows you the number of objects it should take to complete a level.

You will be given a larger amount of Ollars if you solve the puzzle below Par (see Par above). Finally, the most important meter for something like sandbox mode is at the bottom. The object thermometer tells you how much remaining space for objects. The more orange the thermometer becomes, the less you can create. Larger and more complex objects take up more memory, and therefore using more of the meter. You can delete an object you're using at any time by dragging it to the trash bin (at the top right of the bottom screen). Now the last thing is the level editor, which you can click on the link to find out more.
