Solutions that you've used:

Place a Torch(fire) on the ground just to the right of the green switch. Write Exploding Barrel, wait for the monster to walk close to the switch, then drop the barrel onto the torch to make it explode. This should kill the monster and blow open the passage to the Starite. Use an object that lets you fly such as wings and fly over the gap.
You can use the rope trick on this level. Connect a rope to the green barrier and then to the starite. Place a fan, on the right side of the starite, pointing towards you. The starite should blow through the barrier where you can easily retrieve it. 1 under par. Video of this strategy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFsla_UqQnA. Danuab.
Use a wormhole to kill the monster, summon Pegasus to fly you to the top level, use a pickaxe to dig thru the barrier and jump down to the starite.
